    Description

Pre-insulated multilayer composite pipe 6 mm – The multilayer composite pipe comes with 6 mm red insulation already fitted, so it does not need to be added separately during installation. Red and blue have identical technical specifications; the colour helps distinguish flow and return or hot and cold water pipes laid alongside each other. The pipe itself has five layers of cross-linked polyethylene and butt-welded aluminium, in 16 × 2, 20 × 2, 26 × 3 and 32 × 3 mm. Your installer determines whether 6 mm insulation meets GEG requirements for your pipework; find fittings under Press fittings.

Frequently asked questions about aluminium multilayer composite pipe

Dimensions, applications, connections and supply format – brief answers.

What dimensions is this composite pipe available in?

In 16 × 2 mm, 20 × 2 mm, 26 × 3 mm and 32 × 3 mm, supplied as a 50 m coil, with 6 mm pre-insulation in red. The dimensions specify outside diameter × wall thickness in millimetres. The fitting, press jaw and calibrator must match both dimensions.

What is the aluminium multilayer composite pipe suitable for?

According to the manufacturer’s table, for drinking water, hot water, radiators, underfloor heating, cooling, irrigation and compressed air, in each case up to 10 bar at −20 to +95 °C. The −20 °C limit applies only with antifreeze, with a maximum glycol concentration of 30 %. The aluminium layer forms an oxygen barrier.

    How is the pipe connected?

With press fittings for aluminium multilayer composite pipe. The permitted press profile depends on the fitting series and pipe dimensions. State the version you require and your press profile in your enquiry; the specific system approval must be checked before installation. We also offer TH-profile press jaws from 16 × 2 to 40 × 3.5, a calibrator and a pipe cutter for outside diameters of 10 to 42 mm. Press adaptors provide the transition to threaded connections or copper pipe.

What is the red or blue pre-insulation for?

The pipe is already covered with 6 mm insulation, so it does not need to be fitted separately during installation. Red and blue differ only in colour, helping you distinguish pipes laid alongside each other.

What should I do if the pipe kinks?

Do not bend the kink back, as the aluminium layer remains weakened at that point. The affected section is cut out and reconnected, for example with a press coupler. Your installer will carry out this work.
