Choose a replacement shower seal according to glass thickness, profile shape and fitting position. Length alone is not enough. For an enquiry, a photo of the end of the old seal, the glass thickness and the shower enclosure details are helpful. For magnetic seals, the closed position of the door is also needed.
Which seal are you replacing?
| Fitting position | Important information |
|---|---|
| Under the door | Glass thickness, profile with lips or drip rail, length and floor clearance. |
| Along the side of the glass | Profile cross-section, glass thickness and position of the adjoining component. |
| At the closing edge | Magnetic profile or sealing lip, matching part and closing angle. |
Photograph the old seal in its fitting position and from the end. This shows how the profile sits on the glass and which way its lips point. For a magnetic seal, photograph both opposing profiles and the closed door. Colour and a similar external shape are no substitute for these details.
Check glass thickness and length separately
The channel in the profile must be designed for the thickness of your glass pane. Note the measured thickness or the confirmed specification in the enclosure documentation. Seal profiles may be offered for different ranges of glass thickness; choose the range specified for the particular replacement profile.
Also measure the required length and the gap to the adjoining floor or glass. The profile documentation explains whether it may be cut to length and how it is fitted. Do not alter the glass pane to make an unsuitable seal fit. If the profile identification or fitting method is unclear, have an installer check it.
Include these details in your enquiry
- Enclosure manufacturer, model or existing article number.
- Glass thickness and required profile length.
- A photo of the end and a photo in the fitted position.
- For magnetic profiles: the opposing profile and the closed position of the door.
- Required quantity and a description of the problem.
Water outside the shower need not be caused solely by a worn seal. The door position or installation conditions can also play a part. A suitable replacement seal and the cause of a leak should therefore be checked together.
